CLEVELAND, OH (April 22, 2007) – Senior second baseman Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH-pictured) had two RBIs as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team lost to John Carroll 14-5 in the first game of a doubleheader

The game was scoreless through two innings, but John Carroll scored three runs in the third and fourth, then exploded for eight runs in the fifth. Case scored one run in the sixth and four runs in the seventh, but fell short in the comeback attempt. Sudnik drove in his two runs on a walk in the eighth and a sacrifice fly in the ninth. Senior outfielder Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) went 1-for-4 with two runs scored in the game. Both teams combined for twelve fielding errors, but John Carroll took advantage of the four Spartan errors, outhitting them 12-4.
Senior J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) was the starting pitcher and took the loss (6-3), giving up ten runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks, striking out none in four innings. Hampton pitched in relief and gave up four runs (one earned) in one inning, and freshman Chip Dean (Lexington, VA) pitched a scoreless sixth.
