CLEVELAND, OH (April 12, 2007) – Senior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) struck out five batters in three and one-third innings as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team was shut out by the College of Wooster 17-0.
Spartan batters collected two hits in the game, a single by junior shortstop Kevin Haley (Kent, OH-pictured) in the fourth inning and a single by freshman outfielder Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA) in the sixth inning.
Doolos was the starter and took the loss (5-2), giving up thirteen runs (eleven earned) one twelve hits and one walk in his three and a third innings of work. Freshman Chris Zagore (Traverse City, MI) relieved and gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and no walks, striking out three in two and two-thirds innings.
The Spartans will travel to the College of Wooster tomorrow for a 4:00 game.
