CLEVELAND, OH (April 3, 2007) – Sophomore infielder Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH-pictured) and senior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) each homered as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team defeated Baldwin-Wallace College in a slugfest, 13-11.
The plurality of Case’s runs was scored in a six-run fourth inning, during which Doolos hit a solo homer, junior infielder Jamal Mahmud (Flemington, NJ) hit a two-run double, senior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) hit an RBI single, and Faber hit a two-run homer. For the game, Hampton went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored, Mahmud went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs, and two runs scored, Faber went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, and senior second baseman Kevin Sudnik ( Brookpark, OH) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs scored.
Doolos was the starting pitcher and got the win (5-1), pitching seven innings and giving up nine runs (six earned) on thirteen hits and one walk, striking out three.
The Spartans (8-6) will travel to Hiram College tomorrow for a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader.
