MYERS 4, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 28, 2007) – Spartan batters walked nine times against Myers University pitching, but got only two hits as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team had its five-game winning streak ended today by a score of 4-2.
Senior second baseman Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH-pictured) led the walking with three, including one that drove in a run with the bases loaded during the Spartans’ two-run seventh inning. The other run in that inning was scored on the play before, when junior shortstop Kevin Haley (Kent, OH) reached on an error, also with the bases loaded. Sophomore third baseman Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH) and sophomore outfielder Kevin Carney (University Hts., OH) each collected two walks and one stolen base.
Freshman pitcher Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA) got the start and was charged with the loss (0-2), giving up two earned runs on six hits and one walk, striking out none in five innings of work.
The Spartans (7-6) will next host Pitt-Greensburg on April 1 for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
