CASE 4, MYERS 3...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 25, 2007) – Junior pitcher Kevin Haley (Kent, OH-pictured) threw a complete game as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team defeated Myers University 4-3, completing a sweep of the doubleheader. The win moves the baseball team to a record of 6-5 on the year.
Down 2-0 in the second inning, junior third baseman Jamal Mahmud (Flemington, NJ) drew a leadoff walk, and freshman outfielder Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA) drew a two-out walk, then sophomore shortstop Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH) drove in one with a single. In the third, Mahmud tied it up with a sacrifice fly. In the fourth, Keefe, who had reached on a walk, scored on a throwing error, and Faber, who had singled for his second hit of the day, scored on a single by senior outfielder David Adams (Middlefield, OH).
Haley (2-1) gave up three unearned runs on five hits, walking four and striking out one in seven innings of work.
The Spartans will next host Myers University on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
