CLEVELAND, OH (March 17, 2007) – The Case Western Reserve University baseball team ended the 2007 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship Tournament in Sanford, Fla. with an 11-5 win over Brandeis University late Saturday night. The loss knocked Brandeis out of a tie for the UAA Championship with Emory University.
Case senior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH-pictured) threw a complete game. Doolos, who also went three-for-five from the plate with three RBIs, struck out four and walked two. The Spartans had 21 hits in the game and Doolos held Brandeis to 11.
Case senior second baseman Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH) went five-for-six from the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. Six other Spartans had two-plus hits in the game. Case scored five runs in the fourth inning to secure its third win of the season (3-5 overall).
The Spartans finished the tournament 2-4. They next play at Lake Erie College on March 20 at 3:30 p.m.
