CLEVELAND, OH (March 16, 2007) – Senior outfielder David Adams (Middlefield, OH-pictured) went 2-for-3 as the Case Western Reserve University baseball team dropped the first game of today’s UAA doubleheader to Washington University 10-0 in seven innings.
Washington pitcher Zach Richter threw a complete game shutout, scattering three hits and four walks. The lead was only 3-0 through five, but Washington put up a five-run sixth to put the game away. Besides Adams, senior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) collected the other Spartan hit. Drawing walks for Case were junior third baseman Jamal Mahmud (Flemington, NJ), freshman outfielder Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA), senior infielder Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH), and sophomore infielder Ben Faber ( Fostoria, OH).
Junior pitcher Kevin Haley (Kent, OH) was the starting pitcher for the Spartans and took the loss (1-1). He gave up eight runs (seven earned) on twelve hits and one walk, striking out three.
