WASHINGTON (MO) 6, CASE 1...
CHICAGO, IL (April 29, 2006) – Washington University (MO) held Case Western Reserve University scoreless for eight and a half innings this afternoon at the University of Chicago as they defeated the Spartans 6-1 in a University Athletic Association game.
The Bears improve to 33-5 on the season and Case falls to 10-21-1. The Spartans face Washington again tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
Spartan junior catcher Joel McCrackin (Tallmadge, OH) - pictured knocked in junior first baseman Marshall Hampton in the bottom of the ninth, Case's lone run. McCrackin finished 1-for-4 with one RBI. Sophomore third baseman Kevin Haley (Kent, OH) went 2-for-4 to lead Case, who only had five hits as a team.
Spartan junior pitcher John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) received the loss. He pitched seven innings, only giving up five hits and two earned runs, but walked six.
