CHICAGO 11, CASE 5...
CHICAGO, IL (April 29, 2006) – Despite a 3-for-5 performance from Case Western Reserve University junior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) - pictured the Spartans loss a University Athletic Association road game to the University of Chicago 5-11.
Case jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and after Chicago put together three runs in the next two, regained the lead 4-3 in the top of the sixth. Chicago then scored one in the bottom of the sixth and seven more during their next two at bats to improve to 12-15 on the year. The Spartans drop to 10-20-1.
Senior right fielder Tim Koenig (Euclid, OH) went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run scored and one RBI. Senior first baseman Chris Sisson (West Palm Beach, FL) and senior second baseman Dan McNally (Pittsburgh, PA) both finished the game 2-for-5.
Case junior J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) suffered the loss. Doolos lasted 6.2 innings giving up four earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out seven.
