CASE BASEBALL—2006

After one inning, the game was tied at 2-2. But The Storm outscored Case 10-1 over the next six innings to take nine run lead. With the team trailing, 4-12, heading into the bottom of the ninth, Case attempted to make a historic comeback.

Sophomore designated hitter Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH) began the inning with a single. Pinch hitter junior Joe McCrackin (Tallmadge, OH) had a single to move Sudnik into scoring position before freshman pinch hitter Jonathan Fagert (Delmont, PA) scored the runner with an RBI double. With one out, Sisson singled to score McCrackin and fellow senior Dan McNally (Pittsburgh, PA) brought home Fagert with a single. Knipp continued the rally with a single, but McNally was out at second on a questionable call before a fly out ended the game.

Senior pitcher Rich Mullen (2-1) took his first loss as a pitcher in his only season with the Spartans. Mullen pitched seven innings for Case.

The Spartans travel to the Windy City this weekend to battle UAA foes the University of Chicago and Washington University in doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
