CASE 6, THOMAS MORE 4...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 22, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University senior first baseman Chris Sisson (West Palm Beach, FL) - pictured went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, and two runs scored as Case defeated Thomas More in the first game of a double header by a final score of 6-4.
Case trailed 4-0 until they took the lead with a five-run inning in the fourth. Senior centerfielder Max Briggs (Cleveland Heights, OH) started the inning with a walk before Sisson’s triple scored the run. Sophomore designated hitter Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH) hit a single into left field to score Sisson. Freshman shortstop Ben Faber (Fostoria, OH) walked to continue the rally before a bunt single by senior right fielder Tim Koenig (Euclid, OH) had a bunt single to load the bases. Senior second baseman Dan McNally (Pittsburgh, PA) had a three-RBI triple to clear the bases and Case led 5-4 after four.
The Spartans added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Sisson doubled to left center, advanced to third on a groundout, and then scored on a wild pitch.
Junior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) picked up his fourth win of the season for the Spartans. After giving up four runs (three earned) in the first three innings, Doolos settled down and shut out the Saints for the remainder of the game.
