WESTMINSTER 12, CASE 1...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 20, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University junior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) - pictured had a triple and scored Case's only run as the Spartans fell to Westminster College by a final score of 12-1. The Spartans had just four hits in the first game of the doubleheader as senior right fielder Chris Sisson (West Palm Beach, FL) had the team's only RBI on an infield single.
Sophomore Jamal Mahmud (Flemington, NJ) took the loss for the Spartans, who move to 8-17-1 on the year.
Westminster 's pitcher John Izzo (New Castle, PA) had a solid day both on the mound and as a hitter. Izzo gave up just one run and four hits in 6.2 innings of work. He finished the day 3-for-4 from the plate and was just a home run short of hitting for the cycle. He also finished the game with two RBIs and two runs scored as well.
