LA ROCHE 5, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 17, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University senior centerfielder Max Briggs (Cleveland Heights, OH) - pictured went 2-for-3 with a triple, run scored, RBI and stolen base as Case fell in the first game of a doubleheader to La Roche College by a final score of 5-2.
Briggs had a line drive to left field for a triple and was able to score on a throwing error. Junior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) added an RBI triple for the Spartans in the bottom of sixth inning. Case had an opportunity to tie the game in the sixth inning, but Hampton was out at home on a fielder's choice to end the Spartan scoring threat.
Junior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) pitched the complete game and took the loss for the Spartans. Doolos gave up five runs (three earned) on nine hits. Case moves to 7-15-1 on the season.
