PENN STATE BEHREND 4, CASE 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 10, 2006) – Case Western Reserve sophomore third baseman Kevin Haley (Kent OH) went 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Spartans fell to PSU-Behrend by a final score of 4-2 in the first game of a doubleheader at Nobby's Ballpark. Sophomore second baseman Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH) went 2-for-4 with a double to aid the Spartan offensive effort.
Junior pitcher John Thuermer - pictured (Dublin, OH) threw a complete game (nine innings) giving up four runs on just eight hits while striking out four. The Spartans actually jumped out to an early 2-0 in the first inning, but the Lions knotted the game at 2-2 with runs in the third and sixth inning. PSU Behrend put the game away with two runs in the top half of the ninth inning.
The loss drops Case to 6-12 on the season.
