CLEVELAND, OH (April 8, 2006) – Case junior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Claymont, OH) - pictured pitched a complete game as the Spartans defeated Hiram College 5-1 in the first game of a double-header. Doolos gave up one run (unearned) in seven innings of work. He surrendered just four hits, while striking out four batters and giving up no walks.
Case jumped out to 3-0 lead after one inning as catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL), outfielder Chris Sisson (West Palm Beach, FL), shortstop Tim Koenig (Euclid, OH), centerfielder Max Briggs (Cleveland Heights, OH) and first baseman Jamal Mahmud (Flemington, NJ) all walked or were hit by pitches.
Case added two more runs in the fifth inning when senior Josh Knipp (Defiance, OH) reached on a bunt single. Knipp advanced to third on a hit and run single by Hampton. Hampton reached second on an error that allowed Knipp to score. Sisson was walked before Koenig’s single scored Hampton and gave Case a 5-0 lead.
