GREENSBURG, PA (March 31, 2006) – The University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg scored 12 runs during the last three innings to sneak by Case Western Reserve University 15-14 in a seven inning game. The Spartans drop to 2-9 on the season and host Thiel College in a double-header tomorrow afternoon (1:00 p.m.) at Nobby's Ballpark.
Case sophomore first baseman Jamal Mahmud (Fleming, NJ) - pictured went 2-for-2 from the plate with three RBIs, two runs scored, and three walks. Senior second baseman Dan McNally (Pittsburgh , PA) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two walks and one run scored.
The Spartans used six pitchers in the game. Junior John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) started and went four innings allowing eight runs on seven hits and two walks, while striking out three. Junior J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) picked up the loss in relief.
