CASE 9, ROCHESTER 6...
SANFORD, FL (March 18, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University junior pitcher J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) - pictured gave up no earned runs in 6.2 innings of work as Case defeated the University of Rochester 9-6 in their final game of the University Athletic Association Championships.
Doolos surrendered just five hits while striking out two Yellowjackets. Junior John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) gave up one earned run in 1.1 innings of work before senior Rich Mullen (Columbus, OH) came in to get the save for the Spartans.
Leading the offense attack for the Case was junior catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) went 4-5 with two RBIs and two doubles. Sophomore Kevin Haley (Kent, OH) went 3-5 with three RBIs for the Spartans, who had fourteen hits. The win wraps up Case’s trip to Florida as they finish 2-6 overall and 1-5 in the UAA. The loss drops Rochester to 0-6 in the conference.
