CASE 14, WILKES 7...
COCOA BEACH, FL (March 11, 2006) – Case Western Reserve University junior Kevin Sudnik (Brookpark, OH) went 3-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored as the Spartans won their opening game of the season 14-7 over Wilkes University in Cocoa, FL. Sudnik added a double in his first game as a Spartan for Case. Senior outfielder Max Briggs - pictured (Cleveland Heights, OH) added a solo home run. Case is now 1-0 while Wilkes drops to 4-2.
Junior John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) picked up the win for the Spartans. Thuermer threw five innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on just three hits while striking out six Wilkes batters. Senior Tim Koenig (Euclid, OH) added two hits and two RBIs. The Spartans had 18 hits In the game.
The Spartans battle Plattsburg State tomorrow at 1:00 PM before beginning their UAA Tournament on Tuesday.
