SPARTAN BASEBALL—2005

Case actually jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Spartan sophomore Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) reached base on an error then later scored on another error. The Spartan lead didn't last long as Westminster scored 16 runs over the next five innings for a 16-1 lead. Case finally added another run in the sixth inning. Joe McCrackin (Tallmadge, OH) led off the inning with a walk and eventually reached home after three more walks were given up.

The Spartans used four different pitchers to try and shut down the Titan offensive explosion. John Thuermer (Dublin, OH) was the only Case pitcher to escape unscathed as he gave up just one hit in one inning of work and struck out two batters.

Max Briggs (Cleveland Heights, OH), Scott Greer (Pepper Pike, OH), and Jonathan Maruri (Mt. Kisco, NY) recorded the only three hits for Case while Westminster had 14 players with at least one hit.

Case returns to Cleveland with a 6-20 overall record while Westminster moves to 13-5.
