SPARTAN BASEBALL—2005

The Spartans went out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Briggs hit a triple and later scored on a Titan error. Westminster got on the board with three runs in the second inning and two runs in the third inning. Case scored their final run in the sixth inning when Briggs led off with a double. Joe McCrackin (Tallmadge, OH) then drove in Briggs with an RBI single.

J.R. Doolos (Clayton, OH) and Ryan Sporer (Venus, PA) split the pitching duties for Case. Doolos started the game and gave up five runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks with two batters struck out in three innings. Sporer relieved Doolos and allowed one unearned run in three innings of work while giving up five hits.

Also having a good day batting for Case was Scott Greer (Pepper Pike, OH) who finished 2-for-3. Westminster was led by Ed DeRose who was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. The Spartan defense has seen better days as Case committed eight errors compared to three for the Titans.

With the loss, Case moves to 6-19 while Westminster improves to 12-5.
