CLEVELAND, OH (April 1, 2005) – Case Western Reserve began a double header today with the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg off with an 8-5 victory in game one.
The Spartans were led by sophomore third baseman Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL), who went two for four from the plate with four runs batted in and junior pitcher Max Briggs (Cleveland Hts., OH), who threw a complete game allowing seven hits while striking out eight.
After going scoreless in the first two innings and trailing 4-0, Case scored eight runs in the next four innings while holding Greensburg to just one. The Spartans had nine hits and Greensburg seven as both teams committed just one error.
