SPARTAN BASEBALL—2005

Case jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Spartan junior centerfielder Max Briggs (Cleveland Hts., OH) hit the first one over the fence with a two run homerun. Briggs finished the game one-for-four from the plate with two runs batted in and two scored. Sophomore designated hitter Joe McCrackin (Tallmadge, OH) hit Case's other homerun and sophomore catcher Marshall Hampton went two-for-five with three runs scored and one RBI. Hampton also had 12 put outs behind the plate on the day.

The Spartans used three pitchers in the game as freshman David Adams (Middlefield, OH) picked up the loss. The Case pitchers combined for 18 hits allowed and 12 strikeouts. The Spartans fall to 5-12 overall and are scheduled to face the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg at Lakeland tomorrow in a double header beginning at 1:00 p.m.
