LAROCHE 5, CASE 4 ...
PITTSBURGH, PA (March 29, 2005) – LaRoche College scored four runs in the last two innings, including three in the bottom of the seventh, to defeat Case Western Reserve University 5-4 in game two of a double header on Tuesday. The Spartans fall to 5-11 overall and are scheduled to play at Lake Erie College on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
Case senior first baseman Scott Greeg (Gates Mills, OH), sophomore designated hitter Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) and junior centerfielder Max Briggs (Cleveland Heights, OH) each posted a hit for the Spartans. Briggs went one for one with a run scored a two walks.
Sophomore pitcher John Thuermer (Dublin, OH), a second team All-University Athletic Association selection, went the distance on the mound for Case picking up the lost. Thuermer allowed 13 hits, walked two and struck out five.
