SANFORD, FL (March 13, 2005) – Case Western Reserve University sophomore catcher Marshall Hampton (St. Petersburg, FL) went one for two from the plate and scored two runs as the Spartans fell 9-3 to Brandeis University at the University Athletic Association Championship Tournament today in Florida . Hampton 's lone hit came in the sixth inning via his first homerun of the season.
Case freshman pitcher Chad Skidmore (Centerville, OH) received the loss. Skidmore pitched six innings, giving up 11 hits, four walks, and allowing eight runs. He struck out three. The Spartans drop to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the UAA. The Spartans face Emory University tomorrow afternoon at 10:00 a.m.
Brandies scored three runs in the first, five in the sixth and one in the eighth as Case scored one run in the sixth, seventh and eighth.
