Case falls to Emory, 2-1, in uaa play
CLEVELAND, OH (November 1, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team fell to Emory University, 2-1, in Cleveland, OH.
With the loss, regionally-ranked Case Western Reserve moves to 9-6-2 overall and 3-3 in UAA play, while Emory is now 5-5-5 overall and 1-3-2 in the UAA.
Case got on the board first at 13:09 when sophomore midfielder Alex Litofsky (Columiba, MO ~ pictured) scored on a beautiful pass from junior forward Ana Arruda (Ann Arbor , MI). Emory answered in the 32nd minute when Hailey Morris scored from point blank range with Merill Bachouros on the assist. Emory scored the eventual game-winning goal in 50th minute on a header by Lauren Smith.
The Eagles won the battle of shots, 15-6, while the Spartans held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, sophomore Anna Kennedy (Evanston, IL) made six saves.
Case Western Reserve is in action next when it faces the University of Rochester on Saturday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. on senior night as the second game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
