Case Defeats B-W, 1-0, on Penality Kick in the final seconds

CLEVELAND, OH (September 22, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University women's soccer team defeated Baldwin-Wallace College, 1-0, at Case Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

With the win, Case Western Reserve moves to 4-2-1 overall while B-W is now 3-4-2 overall.

The game was scoreless for the first 89:58 and appeared to be headed to overtime when freshman forward Deena Levey (Columbus, OH ~ pictured) drew a penality kick with two seconds left in regulation. Junior forward Ana Arruda (Ann Arbor, MI) drilled home the penality kick to give the Spartans the victory. Listen to Arruda talk about her game winning kick below.

The Spartans won the battle of shots, 10-3, and corner kicks, 3-2.

In goal, sophomore Jackie Guttman (Eden Prairie, MN) made two saves.

Case Western Reserve is in action next when it faces Ohio Northern University at Case Field, Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m. Saturday is the first annual Kicks for a Cause game.
