WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH
Jennifer Reimer
Jennifer Reimer joined Case Western Reserve on September 6, 2007. Reimer, who was Allegheny College’s head coach prior to Case Western Reserve, was a four-year starting point-guard at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. where she was a two-year team captain and left as the schools second all-time assist leader. Prior to graduating, she received the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award. Reimer, who is the seventh women’s head coach in Case Western Reserve history, first coached as an assistant at Ohio Northern University in 1995 before accepting the head coaching position at Juniata College. She would then travel to Alliance, Ohio as the head coach of Mount Union College women’s basketball team from 1997 to 1999. Reimer had a career record of 32-18 at Mount Union before heading to Allegheny where she took over a program that had not been successful in nearly a decade. In her first season at Allegheny, Reimer led the Gators to a 20-6 season with a 13-3 record in the North Coast Athletic Conference. The Gators would continue to chomp their opponents under Reimer’s guidance, as over the last six years, Allegheny has averaged 17 wins a season and has never won less than ten games in conference play. The all-time winningest basketball coach in Allegheny history also helped lead the Gators to six North Coast Athletic Conference semi-finals throughout her tenure, including the title game last season.
Freeman Blade Assistant Coach
Freeman Blade was named a full-time assistant coach for the Spartans on August 14, 2006 and served as interim head coach from July 24 - September 5, 2007. Blade is a 1971 graduate of local Twinsburg High School and has been coaching basketball at different levels since 1981. Recently (2004-2006), he has served as an assistant women’s coach at St. Peter’s College (NCAA Division I – Jersey City, NJ). He was also the head women’s basketball coach at the University of Enschede Twente (2002-2004, Netherlands), an assistant coach at the University of Akron (2001-2002) and the head coach at Twinsburg (1994-2001). As a player, Blade was an All-American his senior year at Eastern Montana College (Billings, MO). He was then drafted by the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Philadelphia 76ers in 1976. From there, he spent some time playing for Athletes in Action (1976-77), the NBA’s Phoenix Suns (1977 – summer league & exhibition season) and in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Anchorage Northern Knights (1977-1981).
DANA HALICKI Assistant Coach
Dana Halicki was named a part-time assistant for the Case Western Reserve University women’s basketball team on October 1, 2007. Halicki, a 2005 graduate of Kenyon College, was previously the junior varsity head coach at Padua Franciscan High School where she led her team to an 11-9 record in 2005-2006 and a 13-6 record during the 2006-2007 season. While at Kenyon, she earned several North Coast Athletic Conference awards in both basketball and softball and was a captain on both teams for two seasons. She received the Jess Willard Falkenstine Award for outstanding scholar-athlete in 2005.
