CLEVELAND, OH (October 19, 2009) -
The Case Western Reserve University volleyball team finished 1-3 this weekend at the University Athletic Association second and final round robin tournament of the season in New York City.
One Saturday, the Spartans fell to the University of Chicago 3-0 (25-18, 27-25, 25-17), but rallied to defeat Carnegie Mellon University 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-12) in match two. On Sunday, they lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-23) to No.3-ranked Emory University and 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-8) to host New York University.
Case Western Reserve (18-6 overall, 3-4 UAA) will travel to Hiram College Wednesday night for 7:00 match.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Suchy (Venetia, PA) and middle hitter Tricia McCutchan tied for a team-high in kills with 46 each. Freshman setter Rachel Gulasey (Cleveland, OH-pictured) posted a team-high 54 digs and senior setter Ashley Gan (Kettering, OH) added 48 digs and a team-high 90 assists during the two days.
