SPARTAN WOMEN'S SOFTBALL—2009
ALBION 4, case 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 26, 2009) - Senior pitcher Ruthe Sagartz (Albuquerque, NM-pictured) pitched six shutout innings, but Albion College scored four runs in the fourth inning that would be enough to top Case Western Reserve University [15-22, 0-8 UAA] 4-2 today at Mather Park in the team’s final game of the season.
The Spartans would get on the scoreboard first when sophomore outfielder Katie Green (Mt. Vernon, OH) scored an unearned run on an error in the second inning that put the team ahead 1-0. Sagartz would keep a no-hitter going on the mound into the fourth inning when Albion produced four quick runs and took a 4-1 lead.
Freshman third baseman Kaeleen Boden (Strongsville, OH) hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning that scored sophomore first baseman Anneliese Fetterman (Cupertino, CA), but the Spartans were unable to generate any more runs in the ball game. Senior outfielder Allison Lansell (Alliance, OH) led the team by going 2-3 at the plate in her final collegiate game.
