amherst 7, case 2...
CLEVELAND, OH (October 10, 2009) -
The Case Western Reserve University men’s tennis team lost its final match of the fall season, 7-2, to nationally ranked Amherst College Saturday at Cornell University.
Amherst won No. 1 - No. 5 singles, but sophomore Sean Carr (Columbus, OH-pictured) defeated Amherst's Alex Kaufman 7-2 and 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Case Western Reserve also dropped No. 1 and No. 2 doubles before senior No. 1 John Smetona (Medina, OH) and freshman Richard Brunsting (Nashville, TN) won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
The Spartans next match will be January 31 at Robert Morris University.
