Case FALLS TO Emory, 2-1, in double ot

CLEVELAND, OH (November 1, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men’s soccer team fell to Emory Unversity, 2-1, in double overtme in Cleveland, OH.

The Spartans fall to 7-8-3 overall and 0-5-1 in UAA play, while the Eagles are now 11-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the UAA.

Emory struck first at when Jake Graetz headed in a corner kick from Christopher Howie in the 39th minute. Case struck back to tie the game at 61:18 when sophomore midfielder Vinny Bell (Parma Heights, OH ~ pictured) scored from 15 yards out. Regulation and the first overtime period was not enough to decide the game, but in the second OT, Howie again scored on a header off another corner kiick play for the golden goal

The Spartans held a 16-6 advantage in shots and won the battle of corner kicks, 7-4.

In goal, sophomore Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made one save in one half of play.

The Spartans are in action next when they host UAA-foe Emory University on Saturday, November 7th at 5:00 p.m.on senior night as the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
