SPARTAN MEN'S SOCCER—2009
Case FALLS TO #9 CMU, 2-0
CLEVELAND, OH (October 30, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men’s soccer team fell to ninth-ranked Carnegie Mellon Unversity, 2-0, in Cleveland, OH.
The Spartans fall to 7-7-3 overall and 0-4-1 in UAA play, while the Tartans are now 14-1 overall and 5-0 in the UAA.
CMU scored first at 8:25 when Ricky Griffin scored after the Tartans advanced the ball downfield on a series of headers. They struck again at 43:41 after Ryan Browne struck home a beautiful cross by Put Lutz.
The Spartans held a 14-12 advantage in shots,and while the Tartans the battle of corner kicks, 8-3.
In goal, sophomore Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made four saves in one half of play.
The Spartans are in action next when they host UAA-foe Emory University on Sunday, November 1st at 11:00 a.m. as the first game of a men's and women's doubleheader.
