SPARTAN MEN'S SOCCER—2009
Case Falls To Washington (Mo.), 2-0, in UAA PLAY
CLEVELAND, OH (October 16, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team fell to regionally-ranked Washington University, 2-0, in St. Louis, MO.
The Spartans are now 6-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in University Athletic Association play, while Washington moves to 8-2-3 and 2-1-0 in the UAA.
Neither team had a good scoring opportunity in the first half until the 36th minute when John Duncan found the back of the net for the Bears. In the second half, Washington extended their lead to 2-0 in the 47th minute when Michael Chamberlin headed home a free kick from Nat Zenner after a highly contested foul near the Case box.
The Spartans held a 20-7 advantage in shots and won the battle of corner kicks, 10-1, but couldn't connect on a goal.
In goal, sophomore Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made two saves.
Case Western Reserve is in action next when it travels to face UAA-foe The University of Chicago, Sunday, October 18, at 12:00 p.m.
