SPARTAN MEN'S SOCCER—2009
Case TIES NYU, 1-1, in UAA PLAY
CLEVELAND, OH (October 10, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team tied New York University, 1-1, in Staten Island, NY
The Spartans are now 6-4-3 overall and 0-1-1 in University Athletic Association play, while NYU moves to 4-6-1 and 0-1-1 in the UAA.
The Violets struck first at the 10:44 mark when Ronnie Scardino put home his first goal of the season. The Spartans were quick to respond when sophomore forward Kyle Alsup (Monroeville, PA ~ pictured) scored his first goal on the year just 1:55 later. Neither team was able break free from strong defense in the last 97 minutes of the game.
The Spartans held a 14-8 advantage in shots and the Violets won the battle of corner kicks, 12-10.
In goal, sophomore Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made five saves.
Case Western Reserve is in action next when it travels to face UAA-foe Washington University, Friday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m.
