CLEVELAND, OH (October 6, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team defeated The College of Wooster, 3-0, at Case Field in Cleveland, OH.

The Spartans are now 6-4-2 overall and 0-1 in University Athletic Association play, while Wooster moves to 3-6-1

The Spartans struck first late in the first half when sophomore forward Vinny Bell (Valley Forge, OH ~ pictured) scored at point blank range on a rebound off the post in the 43rd minute. The Spartans extended the lead in the 68th minute when junior defender Nikola Ivanovic (Hinckley, OH) took a corner kick from senior midfielder Brian Evans (Bartlett, TN) and assisted junior midfielder Jordan Fox (Bexley, OH) for a goal. Just one minute later, the Spartans extended their lead to 3-0 when junior forward Mikey Schmid (Oberlin, OH) found the back of the net off a pass from freshman midfielder Eric Erb (Worthington, OH).

The Spartans held a 21-8 advantage in shots and won the battle of corner kicks, 4-1.

In goal, sophomore Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made two saves.

Case Western Reserve is in action next when it travels to face UAA-foe New York University, Saturday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m.
