SPARTAN MEN'S SOCCER—2009
case defeats #21-ranked Ohio Northern, 1-0, for second straight win
CLEVELAND, OH (September 12, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team defeated #21-ranked Ohio Northern University,1-0, at Case Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
Case has now won two straight contests and is 2-2-1 overall with its victory, while ONU fell to 2-2-1 overall with the loss.
The Spartans scored the first goal of the game in the 43rd minute via a boot by sophomore midfielder Mark Ilhan (Westlake, OH ~ pictured). Sophomore goalkeper Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made six saves for the Spartans, including a critical save from point blank range with four seconds remaining in the contest.
Case won the battle of shots, 17-10 , while both teams drew three corner kicks..
The Spartans are in action next on Wednesday, September 16th, when they travel to University Heights, OH to face area rival John Carroll University.. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
