SPARTAN MEN'S SOCCER—2009
Case and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology tie, 1-1,, at Denison Tournament
CLEVELAND, OH (September 6, 2009) -
The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team tied Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 1-1, on day two of the Denison University Tournament in Granville, Ohio.
After a scoreless first half, the Spartans kicked off the scoring at the 50:13 mark when junior midfielder Mikey Schmid (Oberlin, OH ~ pictured) scored his second goal of the season on a pass from senior midfielder Brian Evans (Bartlett, TN). Rose-Hulman knotted the score at 1-1 in the 76th minute on a goal by Rhys Evans. Neither team was able to breakthrough in either overtime period.
Case won the battle of shots, 21-18 and Rose-Hulman had a 11-10 corner kick advantage.
Sophomore goalkeper Blake Bankwitz (Dearborn, MI) made three saves for the Spartans.
The Spartans are in action Wednesday, September 9th, when they face Muskingum University in the first 2009 home match at Case Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
