Case Falls To Hiram, 2-1, in Season Opener

CLEVELAND, OH (September 1, 2009) - The Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team lost to Hiram College, 2-1, in the first game of the 2009 season in Hiram, OH

The Terriers kicked off the scoring at the 13:00 mark, when Cole Miller found the back of the net. The Sparians knotted the score up at 1-1 less than four minutes later when junior midfielder Jordan Fox (Bexley, OH~ pictured) connected on a pass from sophomore forward Kyle Alsup (Monroeville, PA). The game would remain tied until the 86th minute when Hiram's Ryan Minick scored the game-winning goal.

In defeat, Case won the battle of shots, 13-8, and corner kicks, eight to four.

Sophomore goalkeper Ben Yabrow (Marietta, GA) made one save for the Spartans.

The Spartans are in action next this weekend, September 5th and 6th, when they participate in the Denison University Tournament. Case will face Denison University on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.and Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Sunday at 3:00 p.m.
