Dan Palmer became the third head men's soccer coach in Case history on June 10, 2004.

Palmer spent two years as the head men's soccer coach at Hiram College before coming to Case Western Reserve. He arrived at Hiram after six years (1996-2002) as the head men's and women's soccer coach at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. While at WWU (record: men 46-45-7, women 70-45-6), Palmer was honored as the 1997 American Midwest Conference Men's Co-Coach of the Year and the 1998 AMC Women's Coach of the Year.

Prior to that, Palmer coached the boys team at Wheaton North High School in Wheaton, Illinois from 1994 to 1996 (record: 27-13-5). He was named IHSSCA Section III Coach of the Year in 1995. Palmer also served as the mens soccer coach at his alma mater, North Central College (NCAA Div. III) from 1984 to 1989 (record: 46-44-7).

Palmer, whose career coaching record is 245-210-36 (as of start to 2009 season), completed his B.A. from North Central in 1981 and his M.A. from Northeastern Illinois University in 1989.
