Sean McDonnell was named the third men's basketball coach in Case Western Reserve University's history in 2003.  Since his arrival, McDonnell has recruited, developed, and coached numerous players who were awarded All-University Athletic Association honors, including the 2007-08 UAA Newcomer of the Year.  A number of McDonnell's players have earned All-UAA and All-Region academic honors as well.


Previously, McDonnell served as the men's basketball coach for three seasons at Hiram College in Hiram, OH.  As a member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, McDonnell coached Hiram to two post-season appearances, and he developed two Second Team All-NCAC performers.


From 1996-2000, McDonnell served as the assistant men's basketball coach at Williams College in Williamstown, MA and at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY.  As an undergraduate at Boston College, McDonnell was a student assistant coach where he contributed to the development of six future NBA players.  As an assistant, McDonnell was mentored by two coaches who earned National Coach of the Year honors by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).


Between 1995-2005, McDonnell directed a number of developmental summer basketball clinics in Greece, South Africa, the Republic of Macedonia, and the Czech Republic. Additionally, he coached the Central Region's men's basketball team in New York's Empire State Games from 1998-2000.

McDonnell earned a Master of Science degree in Education from Le Moyne College in 2003 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Boston College in 1996.  McDonnell is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-America Committee and previously served on the Great Lakes Regional Advisory Committee for the Division III NCAA Tournament.  McDonnell resides in Cleveland Heights with his wife Angie and their daughter Leah.

jeff gorski: ASSISTANT MEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

Jeff Gorski was named a full-time assistant coach for the Spartans on September 8, 2009. 

Gorski spent the previous two seasons as a full-time assistant coach at Union College in Schenectady, New York.  He came to Union from Utica College [Pioneers], where he was an assistant from 2003-2006. Gorski played three sports for the Pioneers as an undergraduate [graduated in 2003], including four years for the men’s basketball team, three with the men’s soccer program and two seasons with the Utica golf program.
