CLEVELAND, OH (October 2, 2009) - Case Western Reserve University's Assistant Athletic Director/Sports Information Director, Creg Jantz, is being inducted into Midview High School's Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.  Jantz, a 1989 graduate of Midview, was a two-sport standout for the Middies, starring on the basketball hardwood and the baseball diamond.

Jantz earned two varsity letters in basketball and was named first team All-Erie Shore Conference, All-Lorain County, and third team All-District, averaging 16.1 pts per game and scoring over 20 points ten times, as a senior. Jantz started two years for the Middies on the diamond as a catcher and outfielder, capped off by a prolific senior season when he batted .456.  He threw out 16-of 24 potential stealers on his way to a first team All-Conference nod. He appeared in the top ten on six of the Middies all-time single season record’s lists:  batting average (.456); doubles (8), RBI’s (20); on base percentage (.613); least strikeouts (5); and infield fielding percentage (.987).  His batting average ranked second all-time at the time.

Jantz attended Ashland University and graduated in 1993 with a degree in Sports Communication.  While at Ashland, Jantz was a two-year captain as a standout for the Eagles' baseball team. A two-year team captain and four-year letter winner, Creg was named the team’s Most Valuable Player and was a second team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection his senior year.
