Whalen and english NCAA National LEADERS

CLEVELAND, OH (September 24, 2009) - Senior quarterback Dan Whalen (Willoughby, OH~left) and sophomore defensive lineman Dale English (Middleburg Hts., OH~right) are the NCAA Division III leaders in passing efficiency and tackles for loss, respectively.EnglishWhalen

Whalen has completed 72-of-91 passes for 1,057 yards and 15 TDs in three games. That gives Whalen a passing efficiency of 228.89, good for first in the nation in all NCAA divisions. Whalen is also sixth in Division III with 377 yards per game of total offense.

English has recorded ten tackles for loss in three games. That 3.33 tackles for loss per game ranks English first overall in Division III and third in all divisions.

TEAM RANKINGS... The Spartans are ranked in the top five nationally in three categories; passing offense, passing efficiency and tackles for loss. Case Western Reserve's 365.3 passing yards per game ranks third and its 218.56 passing efficiency and 10.33 tackles for loss per game each rank fifth.

After a bye week, Case Western Reserve will be in action next on October 3 when it travels to Granville, Ohio to take on Denison University at 7:00 p.m.
