SOFTBALL'S WOLZ NAMED UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...

CLEVELAND, OH (March 24, 2009) - Case Western Reserve University freshman outfielder Lauren Wolz (Ashburn, VA) has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for softball [offensive].  The announcement was made on the conference website today.

Wolz gave the Spartans a spark this weekend by blasting two homeruns in 10-1 and 7-1 doubleheader wins against Kenyon College. In the opening game, Wolz went 3-for-3 with a grand slam, a double, four RBI and three runs scored. She smashed another homerun in a 2-for-4 outing in game two, adding an RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Wolz leads the team in homeruns (3), RBI (10) and hits (14), and is batting .359 on the season.
