FRY AND ANDERSON NAMED UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...

CLEVELAND, OH (March 3, 2009) - Case Western Reserve University sophomore guard Reid Anderson (Avon Lake, OH-pictured below) and sophomore pitcher Zach Fry (Colorado Springs, CO) have been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week in their respective sports.  The announcement was made on the UAA website today.nice

Anderson scored a career- and game-high 28 points in the Spartans’ 76-65 season ending win over Emory University in Atlanta Saturday.  He went 9-of-14 from the field, including four three-pointers, in leading Case Western Reserve to its second win over the Eagles this year. Anderson, who led the team in scoring this season with a 14.3 average, also added four rebounds and two blocked shots in the game.

Fry threw a complete game six-hit shutout, the first of his collegiate career, as the Spartans defeated the College of Wooster Saturday 2-0.  Wooster entered the game ranked No. 10 by d3baseball.com.  He recorded four strikeouts and didn’t walk a single batter in seven innings of work. The shutout was the first by a Case Western Reserve pitcher since April of 2006 and the first complete game shutout in more than five years.
