SOCCER'S BIGART NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 21, 2007) - Case Western Reserve University soccer junior midfielder/forward Kevin Bigart (Naperville, OH) has been named a second-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American® by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
“I work pretty hard academically, so it's nice to get some recognition outside of soccer,” Bigart said. “Soccer takes up most of my time outside of school, so it's nice to win something academically.”
Bigart, a chemistry and pre-med major, is a captain for the Spartans and is a recipient of the Case Alumni Association Academic Scholarship. He is a member of American Institute of Chemical Engineers and volunteers at local soup kitchens, soccer camps, and Harvest Sunday at his church. Bigart has been named to the Dean's High Honor List two semesters and the Dean's Honor List one semester. He is a also a two-time University Athletic Association All-Academic honoree and was a second team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV selection last year.
On the field, Bigart started all 18 games for the Spartans (12-5-1), scoring six goals and recording two assists. He was also a first-team All-UAA selection.
