UNDEFEATED FOOTBALL AWAITS WABASH...
CLEVELAND, OH (November 19, 2007) - The Case Western Reserve University football team has made it to the “Sweet 16” of the 2007 NCAA Championships, as the field of 32 was cut in half after round one Saturday.
The University Athletic Association champions and 15th-ranked Spartans will face the North Coast Athletic Conference Champions, No. 14 Wabash College, at Case Field Saturday, Nov. 24, in a second round NCAA football playoff game at 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 dollars for adults and $4 for students with an ID.
Case Western Reserve (11-0), the No. 2 seed in the "Wisconsin-Whitewater bracket", remained undefeated on the season with a thrilling, last-second 21-20 victory over visiting Widener College in the first round and Wabash (10-1), the No. 3 seed, defeated the College of Mount St. Joseph 31-21 at home in Crawfordsville, IN.
The Little Giants captured their third consecutive NCAC title this past season, but had a 13-game winning streak snapped [24-21] by DePauw University in their regular season finale. Wabash is averaging 31.3 points per game and only allowing 15.0. The Little Giants have rushed for 1,151 yards and passed for 3,213.

The Spartans captured their first outright UAA championship and recorded a school-best 10-0 regular season record. Case Western Reserve, which has won 12 straight dating back to the 2006 season finale, is averaging 35.1 and allowing 14.6 points per game. The Spartans have 1,973 yards on the ground and 2,506 in the air in 2007.

The Little Giants and Spartans played four common opponents (Ohio Wesleyan, Oberlin, Wooster and Denison) during the regular season. Case Western Reserve finished 5-0 against NCAC opponents in 2007, a conference they were members of from 1983-1999. Surprisingly the two teams have never met. Wabash joined the NCAC in 1999.
The winner of Saturday's game will face the winner of the Wisconsin-Whitewater (No. 1 seed) – North Central College game in the Quarterfinals on December 1.
