BASEBALL'S MULLINS NAMED UAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK...
CLEVELAND, OH (April 16, 2008) - Case Western Reserve University freshman catcher/first baseman Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH) has been named the University Athletic Association Co-Athlete of the Week this week for baseball. The announcement was made on the UAA website .
In six games last week, Mullins batted .571 (12-for-21) with eight runs scored,
10 runs batted in, and a pair of home runs in leading the Spartans to a 4-2 week. Mullins hit 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four RBI to lead Case Western Reserve to a 15-14 triumph over Hiram College in the nightcap of a doubleheader, smacking a three-run homer in the sixth inning. Three days later, he batted 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI in an 11-10 victory over Thiel College in game two of a doubleheader, belting a two-run homer in an eight-run third inning for the Spartans.
Mullins shared the honor with Rochester's Jay Jay Vanderstyne.
The Spartan face Oberlin College tonight at the Pipe Yard in Lorain, Ohio. The doubleheader begins at 5:00 p.m.
