BASEBALL HAS TWO NAMED ALL-UAA SECOND TEAM...
CLEVELAND, OH (March 24, 2008) - The Case Western Reserve University baseball team has had two players named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team. The honors were announced by the UAA office today. All-UAA Team
Sophomore outfielder Phil Keefe (Newtonville, MA) and freshman catcher Chad Mullins (Fredericksburg, OH) both earned second-team honors after their successful performances in Sanford, Fla. at the 2008 UAA Baseball Championships.
Keefe had five hits for the Spartans in Sanford, including a double and four RBIs. He also drew four walks and had a .480 on-base percentage for Case Western Reserve. On the year, Keefe has played and started in all nine games for the Spartans and has a .296 batting average.
Mullins split time at catcher and first base for Case Western Reserve in Sanford, as he batted .267 in six games. He hit his first collegiate home run on Mar. 12 against Washington University and finished the tournament with four hits and three RBIs.
The Spartans (2-7) are scheduled to face John Carroll University at home on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
