SPORTS INFORMATION — 2008

Herring finished third on the team and 16th in the UAA in scoring this season.  He stared started all 25 games for Case Western Reserve, averaging 12.2 points per contest.  Herring led the UAA in free throw percentage at .905 (76-of-84) and made 36 three-pointers.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Kevin,” said Head Coach Sean McDonnell.  “He was asked to shoulder a large role for us this season and did so admirably.  Kevin has a bright future here.”

Tondo led the Spartans and finished second in the UAA in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game.  She led the UAA in assists with a 4.8 average and finished 15th in rebounding with a 5.8 average.  Tondo also finished tied for first in the UAA in steals, averaging 2.4 a game.

Also earning All-UAA honors for the Case Western Reserve women were seniors Ashley Horton (Akron, OH) and Mary Herendeen (Austinburg, OH).  Horton, a forward and 2007 honorable selection, averaged a double-double this past season with 13.8 points [5th in UAA] and 10.5 rebounds [2nd in UAA] per game.  Herendeen, a guard, averaged a career-best 12.7 points [7th in UAA] per game and finished second in the UAA in three-pointers made with 55.

“Ashleigh [Tondo] had a great sophomore season for us,” said first-year Head Coach Jennifer Reimer.  “She nearly triple-doubled more than once and that speaks volumes about the type of player she has become.  Horton and Herendeen were our leaders and it doesn't surprise me that they had career-best seasons.”

On the men's side, junior guard Steve Young (St. Louis, MO) was a named to the second team and senior center Mason Conrad (Tarpon Springs, FL) was an honorable mention selection.  Young led the Spartans and finished tied for 12th in the UAA in scoring with a 13.1 average and finished second in three-pointers made with 65.  Conrad, a four-time All-UAA honorable mention selection, finished 14th in the UAA in scoring (12.4 ppg.) and sixth in rebounding (6.7 rpg.).
