CROSS COUNTRY HAS FIVE NAMED USTFCCCA ALL-ACADEMIC...
CLEVELAND, OH (February 26, 2008) - Five Case Western Reserve University cross country student-athletes have been named to the 2008 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Cross Country All-Academic teams. The announcement was made on the USTFCCCA website .
The award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.
The Spartan women's cross country team had four make the list. Freshman Andrea Fischione (Export, PA), junior Britta Kumley (Solon, OH), senior Esther Erb (Richmond, VA) and sophomore Oiaogiao (Joy) Zhu (Chalfont, PA). On the men's side, junior Mike Petro (Cincinnati, OH) made the cut.
The Case Western Reserve women's cross country team placed sixth at the 2007 NCAA Championship meet and second at the Great Lakes Regional meet.
